Simpson's Donut Cake

For my friend's birthday, I decided to make him a Simpson's donut, but in the form of a cake. With the help of my boyfriend, this is how it turned out:

We made a French vanilla cake with strawberry mousse filling. We tinted the white chocolate glaze pink. The sprinkles were also made of tinted white chocolate since we couldn't find big sprinkles. Next time though, I would pipe the sprinkles to get the tubular shape instead of chopping out rectangular pieces.

He loved the cake regardless =)

Review of Mei Mei Alterations and Dry Cleaners (aka Fit Me Alterations)

Mei Mei Alterations and Dry Cleaners is located at Crystal Mall in Burnaby. 

Warning to all: Do NOT go here. It was a nightmarish experience. These people do NOT know what they are doing. My friend and I needed our bridesmaids' dresses altered. We went there SIX times before our alterations were done, and it took almost a month. They are disorganized and the quality of their work is poor.

Shopping online - Customs/duties

With the strong Canadian dollar, I'm often tempted to shop online - it's cheaper and there's more variety. However, one of the big downsides is having to pay customs once it arrives, and sometimes brokerage. I absolutely hate brokerage with a passion. I feel like I'm being robbed by UPS and Fedex when they arrive at my door. SURPRISE! Give us $50 CASH - NOW!
